Simplex, Celer, et Letatio

"Simplicity in planning fosters energy in execution. Strong determination in carrying through a simple idea is the surest route to success. The winning simplicity we seek, the simplicity of genius, is the result of intense mental engagement."
~Carl von Clausewitz

More About Us...

At our inaugural meeting in March, 2010, we settled on several simple guiding principles for our club:

  • The games we play should have quick/easy mechanics.
  • There should be cold beer present (and probably pretzels too).
  • The games should accommodate four to eight players.
  • From time to time different event hosts should volunteer to host games.
  • Events should be scheduled one to two months in advance on this website.
  • We encourage leveraging of miniatures and terrain to make each event a group project if necessary.
  • All genres of games are acceptable.
  • Miniatures must be painted beyond priming stage.  This means you, Andy...
  • It is preferred that every game feature one freshly painted miniature, named for a player who is present, that should be aggressively maneuvered into risky and reckless combat, hopefully resulting in the utter destruction of the object represented by that miniature, and quite possibly other objects in its vicinity.

Our motto is "Simplex, Celer, et Letatio" - Simple, Fast, and Fun
When
We usually meet the second Thursday night of each month at 7:00 pm, at one of several pub-restaurants in Houston, with a goal of being home by midnight.

Check out our calendar to find out more about our upcoming games.

Where
We started meeting at Asgard Games before moving on to the Stag's Head Pub.

With the closing of the Stag's Head we moved briefly to the Black Labrador, then spent several years playing at Tea + Victory Game Cafe..

Our regular monthly venue now varies as we search for a new permanent home.
Who
We are a relatively small group of mostly middle-aged core wargamers, but always welcome newcomers to our ranks.

The simple, fast, and fun nature of the multiplayer wargame experience we enjoy means those who come to play needn't bring their own miniatures nor be overly familiar with the game rules in use.
