Some of the club were able to make it to Austin this year and had a great time both running some wargames and playing in many more.
This was my first time at the con and for most it was also their first face-to-face con in a while. That made the experience that much better. Thanks to Mark, Charlie, Ian and the rest of the hard working LSHM board for putting on a great show.

A great time was had at Rice University this past weekend at the 39th OwlCon game convention. Members of our group ran or played in a number of great games, featuring rule systems like Brigadier General Commands, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Ronin, The Man Who Would Be King, What A Tanker, and others.
![]() OwlCon XXXVI came to Houston the weekend of February 10-12, 2017 and, as usual, attracted gamers of all shapes and sizes. Billed as "Superb Owl Con LI", you can easily surmise the theme of the event from its name and its logo. The final event schedule featured the usual panoply of board, card, miniature, RPG, and LARP games, but Houston Beer and Pretzel Wargaming was well represented with eight different miniature wargames run by five of our regular and most active game masters. The range of games we ran included everything from medieval to pike and shot to WWII, and explored action at scales from 1:2400 to 28mm, covering actions on land, at sea, and in the air. |
